Advice for Trail Runners: The Salomon Women's DRX Defy Grvl are quite unique in their design and benefits. Finding running shoes with cushioning, grip and added stability is not an easy task. However, that is what these gravel running shoes offer.

Underfoot Feel

Salomon's energyFOAM has been used to create a responsive midsole with premium cushioning. At the rearfoot, the cushioning feels substantial. However, the midsole feels as though it is very much engineered to encourage forward movement.

We want to highlight that these Salomon running shoes are designed to provide additional guidance for your feet and ankles. By additional guidance, we mean they should provide more stability than neutral running shoes. Salomon's activeCHASSIS should help to guide your feet and legs through a stable movement pattern.

From a grip perspective, the lug depth and pattern on the outsole should be perfect for running on roads and gravel trails.

Upper Fit

The breathable upper provides a supportive fit. There are a number of overlays on the upper - which will help to provide support for your feet.

Ideal Run Type

The Salomon Women's DRX Defy Grvl will be best for runs involving a mixture of concrete, gravel and/or some hard-packed trails. The responsive cushioning should work well at a range of paces - including faster runs, such as tempo runs.

As a reminder, these shoes do offer additional guidance for your feet and ankles. Therefore, they are likely to be ideal if you normally run in stability road running shoes, and you are looking for shoes with a bit more grip and traction.

Sizing Advice

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).

This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
